As Packing plays an important part in ensuring a low “Death On Arrival” (DOA) rate, Jeda Aquatics goes beyond the norms to find the best packaging systems. In 2016, we invested in the research and development to discover a packing technology that helps us to improved the quality of the packing so that the survival rate is increased from current 97% to a 99%.
The most important part of the packing is the polyethylene bags. As transit can range from 2 hours to 72 hours, we ensure that only the good quality bags are used. Also, the appropriate number of layers of bags must be used for the fish types that may be aggressive or have sharp fins. At Jeda Aquatics, we also have a good number of variety in the sizes of the bags. As such, we can pack more in one box – sometimes, up to 9 bags per box. At the same time, we do not compromise the survivability. To ensure high survival rate, we use high-level technology to ensure optimum density at a low weight.
The packed bags then placed in boxes, which are properly labelled for exporting purposes and stakced up to be loaded unto the vehicle for shipment.
